Production of carbon electrodes

The company specializes in the production of carbon electrodes, whose quality meets international standards.

Advantages of carbon electrodes:

  • specific conductivity;
  • thermal conductivity;
  • mechanical strength.

Application:

  • production of ferrosilicon and silicon metal

Carbon electrodes are widely used in the production of silicon metal, ferrosilicon as well as phosphorus, ferronickel and non-ferrous metals..

Schematic diagram of the carbon electrode:

Manufacturing process

Crushing and mixing

First, highest-quality petroleum coke is crushed and calcined, then mixed with pitch until a homogeneous mass is obtained.

Extrusion and firing

The resulting mass is pressed by vibroforming, formed into an electrode, and is fed for firing.

Graphitization, processing and storage

After the electrode is re-fired at over 3000 °C in the electric furnace, it is machined, inspected, packed and delivered to the warehouse.

Packaging option no. 1:

Electrodes are placed on wooden skids (pallets) and tied together with steel straps in accordance with modern packaging requirements.

Packaging option no. 2:

Electrodes are wrapped in polyethylene film and packed in wooden crates using steel straps in accordance with transportation standards.

Crushing and mixing

Highest-quality petroleum or needle coke is crushed and calcined, then mixed with pitch until a homogeneous mass is obtained.

Extrusion, Firing, Impregnation and Re-firing

The resulting mass is pressed through the extruder forming into an electrode, which is subsequently fired, impregnated and re-fired.

Production of cathode blocks

Features
  • Cathode blocks are used for lining baths and sidewalls of aluminum electrolyzers to create a  barrier to erosion and molten fluorides.
  • Cathodes are an essential component of the aluminum production process. Prerequisites: good electrical and thermal conductivity, resistance to erosion, stability (both physical and chemical) in contact with molten aluminum and bath materials, resistance to sodium swelling

Aluminum industry

The cathode blocks market worldwide is dictated by the technology of primary aluminum melting in boilers and the lifetime of the electrolyzer when melting primary aluminum

Packaging
  • The blocks are wrapped in PE film and packed in wooden lattice.
  • The ribs of the blocks are securely protected by the packaging.
  • The blocks are delivered to consumers in containers by road, rail or sea.
  • The packing and delivery method is tailored to the customers' wishes.
  • During storage and transportation the blocks are reliably protected from moisture and mechanical damage.
