Chelyabinsk, December 8, 2020: Sergei Sotnikov, Managing Director of Doncarb Graphite LLC (part of EPM Group), and Aleksei Teksler, Governor of the Chelyabinsk Region, have signed an agreement for implementing environmental protection measures at the enterprise.

The document provides for cooperation between Doncarb Graphite and the government of the Chelyabinsk Region with the aim of improving the environmental situation in Chelyabinsk. As part of this agreement, the enterprise is reconstructing ventilation and aspiration equipment and dust and gas cleaning plants.

In addition, the parties will exchange information on public coverage of the activities aimed at reducing environmental impact, as well as hold joint meetings, and set up working groups and commissions.

 “Doncarb Graphite implements environmental activities on a regular basis and organizes effective interaction with the authorities,” said Sergei Sotnikov, Managing Director of Doncarb Graphite LLC. “The company had previously entered into an agreement with the Ministry of Ecology of the Chelyabinsk Region to work during unfavorable weather conditions, taking on additional obligations. We are constantly improving our production facilities with a particular focus on environmental protection.”

In 2020, a new aspiration system was installed in the paste department of the enterprise's Chelyabinsk site, and swiveling hoods were installed at the silicified graphite production site. A large-scale investment program to build modern and environmentally friendly equipment for isostatic graphite production was completed in 2017.
