DEPUTY MINISTER OF TRADE AND INDUSTRY OF THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION VASILY OSMAKOV VISITS EPM-NEP
City of Novocherkassk, November 20, 2020. The Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Vasily Osmakov visited EPM - Novocherkassk Electrode Plant; possible options for state support for the enterprise were discussed.
A meeting was held at EPM - Novocherkassk Electrode Plant between the Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation and representatives of the Administration of the City of Novocherkassk and the heads of city enterprises that manufacture products for export. The main topic discussed at the meeting were the forms of support for regional enterprises aimed at increasing the export potential of the Rostov Region.
During the discussion, Acting Managing Director of EPM-NEP Dmitry Salikhov drew attention to a number of issues, including the lack of Russian producers of needle coke, the enterprise's main raw material, the dependence on foreign suppliers and the aggressive dumping of Chinese manufacturers of graphite electrodes.
"EPM-Novocherkassk Electrode Plant represents a strategically important sector of the Russian economy . The carbon and graphite industry requires special attention and support," emphasises Dmitry Salikhov, the acting managing director of the enterprise.
A special investment contract (SPIC) has already been signed between the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, the Government of the Rostov Region and EPM Group. According to the document, the main equipment for production of graphite electrodes will be modernized at the enterprise by the end of 2023.
