EL 6 NOVOSIBIRSK VOLUNTEERS HELD A TRADITIONAL AUTUMN ECO-CAMPAIGN ON THE LOCAL RIVER. ALTHOUGH THEY RETURNED ALMOST EMPTY-HANDED, THEY WERE VERY HAPPY ABOUT IT.
This event was timed to coincide with the World Cleanup Day celebrated annually on the third Saturday of September. The campaign was supported by the National Council for Corporate Volunteering and the Ministry of Natural Resources and the Environment of the Novosibirsk Region.
Thirty-five people cleaned up the banks of the Koinikha River reservoir. Young people and veterans of the Branch visit this place every year. In May 2023, the volunteers removed 85 bags of household waste from the bank. As a result of the September campaign, the collected garbage barely covered the bottom of the truck bed.
Nadezhda Trushina, Chairman of the Veterans Council, El 6 Novosibirsk: "We are happy that vacationers and fishermen leave less garbage on the bank, taking it with them. This is the main result of our work. The efforts of the plant employees were beneficial. Something has changed in the attitude of our fellow countrymen to nature, and our beloved reservoir has become much cleaner."
Svetlana Tkachenko, a volunteer, Head of Quality Management System Department, El 6 Novosibirsk: "Few people know that this reservoir turned exactly 40 years old in 2023. We searched the archives and found out that the reservoir body was filled in 1983. It's nice that this wonderful place meets its anniversary in fine fashion!"
The volunteers agreed to choose another location for cleanup next year. Unfortunately, there are still plenty of places near Linyovo in need of the caring hands of volunteers.
