Novosibirsk, December 13, 2022: School No. 4 in the Linyovo workers’ community hosted annual team competitions for schoolchildren of the Iskitimsky district, and the young participants had to solve scientific, production-related and engineering problems.
Traditionally, project reviews are arranged as an intellectual contest for teams to present their ideas and answer questions from rivals and the jury panel. The event helps children to demonstrate brainpower, reveal creative potential and even choose a future profession.
In 2022, EL6’s problem was solved by students of Linyovo School No. 4. Eighth-graders Yaroslav Kropotov, Artyom Pushnitsa and David Zaitsev learned the basics of 3D modeling, with Marina Stroganova, teacher of physics at School No. 4, and Igor Batyrkanov, Head of Testing & Measurements, EL6 Novosibirsk, acting as their supervisors.
The project’s visual embodiment was the presentation of EL6 3D logo given with the use of the 3D hologram fan that the company had provided to the participants. The voluminous image impressed the jury panel with its realism, and the team won silver medals and nice souvenirs from EL6.
“The problem was very thought-provoking,” says Artyom Pushnitsa. “Within a week, we developed a model using professional software and prepared slides to clearly explain the jury and other guys how we were doing our project. David, Yaroslav and I are in an engineering class and often use unusual devices, but the hologram fan really impressed us all.”
“For us, participation in the Take a Step is not only a good tradition,” said Elena Berillo, HR Director EL6 Novosibirsk. “For the company, this is an important milestone in the long-term talent pipeline program. We engage our duly skilled mentors, apply state-of-the-art technology and equipment to attract schoolchildren or students to electrode production and show career prospects in this area.”
Alumni of the EL6 career guidance program are young engineers Vsevolod Lavrentiev and Alina Yaryeva who joined the program at different stages: Vsevolod as a schoolboy and Alina as a college student. After graduation from the university, they both were hired as engineers at EL6 Novosibirsk.
EL6 is a long-term partner of the career guidance game, offering engineering cases.
In 2020, EL6 entered into an agreement with the Novosibirsk State Technical University (NSTU) to boost strategic partnership in education, industry, science and innovation. At the Department of Chemical Technology of Carbon Materials (Faculty of Mechanics and Technology), they teach students in Chemical Technology of Carbon Materials, and the graduates can be employed as process engineers, chemical engineers or lab engineers.
