El 6 Novocherkassk successfully commissioned nine modern cooling towers with a total capacity of 4,500 m³/h, replacing 11 outdated models. The work was carried out as part of an energy service contract with Rostelecom. During the project implementation, water intake basins were also restored, and the operation of two pumping stations and the control center was automated. These measures will significantly reduce energy consumption and improve production processes.

Gennady Velichko, Head of El 6 Novocherkassk branch, noted: “We are actively modernizing production and enterprise management systems. This project opens up opportunities for us to significantly save resources, reduce costs, and improve the efficiency of our operations. The partnership with Rostelecom provided us with high-quality services, including replacement of equipment and automation of dispatcher workstations.”

The benefits include reduced energy consumption by the pumping equipment. It is expected that over a five-year period, the plant will be able to save 196 million kWh, which will amount to RUB 590 million. The new cooling towers also allow for maintenance without having to stop their operation. They are equipped with combined protective screens that prevent water splashing and ice formation in winter. Special panels protect the structure from debris and sunlight, reducing the need for chemical cleaning agents.

The Novocherkassk enterprise is the largest carbon-graphite production plant in the country. And we have applied a wide range of solutions to optimize its cooling system. Our specialists have not only replaced but also automated the equipment and set up a comprehensive dispatching system. It solves a wide range of problems, which includes increasing productivity and comfort of employees.”

This project is the largest energy service contract implemented by the company to date.
