On December 05, 2017, ENERGOPROM Group made a contract for supply of new cathode brand N-5 (graphitized cathodes that underwent additional coal tar impregnation and burning after graphitization) with Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA)—one of the world's largest aluminium producers.

The product demonstrated higher density and erosion resistance at relatively similar electric resistance as compared to N-4 cathodes. This increases cell life by 20% on the average—up to 1 year—while providing significant energy saving for aluminium smelting.

Cathodes of the new brand were tested by R&D Carbon company which has confirmed the stated technical performance of cathodes.

"We see high potential in making this type of products. It will allow us to use the existing production capacities of the company in a more effective way, to expand the geographic coverage of supplies and to expand into new markets," noted Viktor Nechuyatov—Director General of ENERGOPROM Group.

EAG is among the five world's largest primary aluminium producers. This company has 4% market share and exports about 90% of its overall production all over the world. The main sales markets of the company are Asia, Middle East and North Africa, Europe and America.
