The Novosibirsk Electrode Plant (EPM — NovEP) shipped 110 tons of graphite electrodes, grade UHP, diameter 610 mm, to the Nadezhdinski Metallurgical Plant. That was the first batch of needle coke-based graphite electrodes of the said grade manufactured at ENERGOPROM’s Novosibirsk plant since 2011.

Another 200 tons of products of the said grade are currently being prepared for shipment, with 1,000 tons expected to be shipped by the end of this year. In 2017, EPM — NovEP continued the program for expansion of product range, entrance to the new sales markets and increase of the capacity utilization rate. One of the stages of this program provides for the comeback to the UHP graphite electrode market. The 2018 plans call for the increase of production of these products.

Graphite electrodes are used in the industries requiring sophisticated processes and involving extremely high temperatures for smelting of steel, special alloys and ferrous alloys. The product features high thermal resistance and does not change its shape, mass, volume and properties when exposed to high temperatures.
